The Suwannee County Museum Association is proud to present the
second annual Railroad Days heritage festival. As with last year‘s
event, this celebration will focus on the rich history of the Railroad
and the impact that it played in the development and growth of
Suwannee County.
This year‘s event has several new venues added to the festivities.
The festival will be a week long series of events leading up to
the Saturday Main-Event. (See
page 4) During the week, the museum
will offer special program nights and opportunities for citizens
to be-come more aware of the Railroad‘s part in local history.
(For a schedule of nightly programs, see
page 7 of this issue of
the Freight Line.)
In addition to these program events, this year‘s Railroad
Days will feature several new venues for participation. The Suwannee
River Railroaders will be gathering for Wednesday Morning Breakfast
at 7:00 at Dixie Grill. They will also be hosting Hobo
Night on Thursday evening (see
page 2) and a Railroad collectors Swap, Shop, & Show,
during the morning hours of the Railroad Festivals main event on
Saturday. This is an opportunity for local railroad collectors
and enthusiasts to come together to share collections, stories
and reflections. (For more details, see page 5).
The Suwannee County Museum Association will be conducting a Bar-B-Que
cook-off competition. This is sure to be a time of friendly competition
and fun. (For more details, see page 3).
In the area of entertainment, the museum is proud to announce
that there will be a dance demonstration and live
entertainment on stage.
The dance demonstration, called The Lophing
Gopher in honor of the occasion, will be led by Jan
Pearce and will

will take place on the staging area
on event grounds.
